Dr. Ravindran Thayan

I am a Molecular Virologist by training and is currently the Head of Virology Unit, Infectious Diseases Research Centre, Institute for Medical Research, Ministry of Health Malaysia. My PhD is in the field of Molecular Virology, University Malaya. I am also the Director of WHO National Influenza Centre as well as Coordinator for the WHO National Polio Laboratory. I have been with Virology Unit IMR since 1992 and have been involved in several outbreak investigation including COVID-19, Polio virus and Measles in 2019, Rabies in 2018, Zika in 2016, MERS-CoV and Avian influenza in 2014 and Pandemic Influenza H1N1 in 2009 among others. I have published in several peer-reviewed scientific papers as well as presented in conferences as plenary speaker or scientific presentations. I am also member of several expert panels.
Dr. Masita Arip

Dr Masita Arip was trained as an undergraduate in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1999 and subsequently obtained her Master in Pathology (Microbiology & Immunology) at UKM in 2008. She provides consultations to Ministry of Health (MOH) and non-MOH organisations for immunology, medical microbiology and vaccines areas. She’s also the Dean of Diploma Medical Microbiology course in IMR under South East Asia Ministry of Education Tropical Medicine (SEAMEO-TROPMED).

Asst. Prof. Dr. Jaifred Christian Lopez

Currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Nutrition, College of Public Health, University of the Philippines Manila (UP CPH), where he specializes in policy studies on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and undernutrition. He is concurrently serving as Special Assistant to the Dean. He finished his medical degree in UP Manila (2011) under the Integrated Arts and Medicine (Intarmed) program, and his Master in Public Management, major in Health Systems and Development at the Development Academy of the Philippines (2013). He is an alumnus of the Doctors to the Barrios program of the Department of Health, having served the Cordillera region as municipal health officer and municipal nutrition action officer.
Dr. Maria Margarita Lota

Maria Margarita M. Lota, MD is the Chair and Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Microbiology, College of Public Health, University of the Philippines Manila. She is a medical doctor with specialization in General Pediatrics. Dr. Lota is the program chair of the Bachelor of Science in Public Health and spearheaded the revision of the current curriculum. She has recently completed her Masters in Health Professions Education at the National Teacher Training Center for the Health Professions of the University of the Philippines Manila.
